Subject: Mach3 Spindle Modbus and KFLOP
Tom,
Iam still working with modbus in Mach3 to control M3,M4,M5 and S (spindlespeed). Its working (using a brain also) but i had some weird issues at first. Had X axis disable on me a few times and had to power cycle KFLOP board to get X axis back.

Mach3 modbus config in Ports&Pins uses Port 0.
Can this cause issues with KFLOP? Didnt you say KFLOP uses Port 0 in Mach3?

Hi Troy,

I don't think so.  The Dynomotion Plugin takes over Ports #1 and #2.

Good.then I think it might have to do with the dwell in mach. And I think my xml got corrupted some how in mach 3. After I replaced and reconfigured modbus, all appears to be working, but I have just started using as of about an hour ago.

One more, my encoders Ports and pins in mach are 0. Is that correct?

Hi Troy,

That should be ok.  Encoder inputs are handled by KFLOP so there is no need to configure them in Mach3.  I normally recommend setting pins to port0 as that is unused.  But now you tell me that is for ModBus??

Yup. Found that out on one of the video tutorials on machs website.Should i change ports to something other than 0 while using KFLOP?

Hi Troy,

To be safe I would set them to any unused port so they don't interfere with anything.  KFLOP only handles port #1 and #2.  So using port #0 would cause no problem with KFLOP, but I don't know if it would cause Mach3 to do something to the modbus.
